The head of marketing at the UK’s leading office design, fit out and refurbishment company Morgan Lovell will be among the guest speakers at a debate centred on combining successful business operations with a genuine commitment to sustainability.
Paul Kelly, who is also a marketing committee member of the UK Green Building Council, will be joining guests at base, a two-day event focused on business and sustainability - featuring conference modules and an exhibition - taking place from Tuesday, 16 to Wednesday, 17 March, at Excel in London.
Paul is taking part in the session, Making Your Finance Director Your Greatest Sustainability Champion, chaired by Philip Sellwood, chief executive of the Energy Saving Trust. The session, being held on the 16 March, from 14.00 hours to 15.10 hours, will investigate how the business case for sustainability initiatives should be promoted in a way that appeals to finance directors.
A spokesperson from base, said: “Being sustainable is now mandatory for any 21st century business. Companies with strong sustainability positions are leading their industries: profits typically go up, operating costs go down, employees are more proud and enthusiastic, and the public, their investors and Government look upon them positively.”
Morgan Lovell – which specialises in cost-effective ‘green’ office refurbishment – has helped play a key role in shaping the growing viewpoint among UK companies that adopting a more sustainable business model makes good business sense.
Paul Kelly said: “There is a compelling case for UK businesses to take a more sustainable position.
“Doing so not only helps combat climate change, it also offers tangible social benefits too, with employees and the wider community being proud to be associated with an organisation with good green credentials.
“Of major significance however is the fact that adopting a green approach can also help save money. For example, a sustainable office can deliver savings of up to 25 per cent on energy bills, year after year.”
Morgan Lovell is leading the way in sustainable office interior design and build in the UK, with its own in-house environmental team.
Its London office scored the highest BREEAM rating ever for an office refurbishment in the UK, winning both a Green Apple and BIFM Award – and the company has made the Sunday Times’ Best Green Companies list in 2008 and 2009.
