Tankless hot water heaters, while more efficient and cheaper to use than the traditional water heaters, may not be as cost effective in saving you money on your electricity bill as you first thought, especially if you have a family who likes to indulge in their never ending supply of on demand hot water.  The other thing to bare in mind is that the tankless hot water heater has to heat the water up from cold each time your household request hot water.
