The price of gas is becoming exorbitant. The price of oil is reaching an all time high and motorists are paying the price. The increase in gas prices comes at a time of great economic uncertainty. Consumer confidence is weakening as a looming US recession is bolstered by inflation. There has never been a more financially viable time to use alternative fuels for cars.

However, financial prudence is not the only driving force behind the search for alternative fuels for cars. There are various environmental incentives to finding alternative fuels for cars. Scientists and environmentalists are looking for a renewable source of energy that can by consumed as cleanly as possible. Producing this resource also needs to be environmentally friendly with as little social impact as possible.

Also, clean water is a resource that is easier to obtain compared to hydrogen, thus making it more convenient. Filling a tank with water is also faster than charging an electric cell.

Hydrogen generators turn water into their gaseous state and inject the gas into the vehicle's engine. This displaces some gas while allowing the remaining gas to burn more efficiently.

The topic of hydrogen generators is one of the most widely discussed topics when it comes to car modifications that improve gas mileage. There are several companies that will install a hydrogen generator into your vehicle. Unfortunately, these services can be quite costly. These installation services can cost up to $10,000.

Alternatively, there are DIY options available on the internet. There are several guides available on the internet that will show you how to perform a HHO conversion. Some of these guides claim that the raw materials required to perform the conversions can cost as little as $150.

There is a great deal of uncertainty in the alternative fuel sector. But what is certain is that a cheap, environmentally-friendly solution should be employed by motorists wherever possible. Until the scientific and environmental community can reach a consensus, water may be one of the best alternative fuels for cars.
